In a world where BYOD – bring your own device – is becoming the rule, rather than the exception, the management challenges multiply with every new smartphone or tablet that finds its way into the office.
Which is why it's a good time for the latest addition to the Sprint Professional Mobility Services portfolio. Sprint Device Management, which we recently announced, handles mobile device management and security across multiple carriers and operating systems.
The Sprint Professional Mobility Services suite is targeted toward the multi-carrier environment found in so many enterprises, from the device management offered in the newest of the solutions to addressing the complexity of cross-carrier expenses, deployment, lifecycles, policy management, and support.
Sprint Device Management provides a robust level of device security and management across a range of device types. Its tool set enables close management of administrator sync setting, non-compliant alerts, security management, software application or distribution, hardware controls and configuration, advanced reporting and analytics, and content filtering. Leveraging the expertise of partners, this newest solution offers comprehensive coverage of all of an enterprise's mobile devices.
For those enterprises that need a more consultative and comprehensive approach to managing their mobile environment, Sprint Mobility Management provides additional services, from telecom expense management to procurement and logistics, to multi-carrier troubleshooting.
As Suzanne Hopkins, mobile services research analyst at IDC, observed, “Managed mobility solutions no longer only focus on cost savings and contract management; instead incorporating a mobile device management solution is a key component businesses are considering when choosing a managed mobility provider."
In addition, select devices can now earn the "Sprint Professional Grade" seal of approval. We have collaborated with mobile device OEMs and application providers on this designation for those smartphones that offer a sufficiently robust out-of-the-box level of security, device management, and Exchange Active Sync capabilities such as password policy support, remote wipe, calendar functions, and more.
Four devices are the first to be designated Sprint Professional Grade. They are the Motorola PHOTON 4G, Motorola Admiral, Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, and the HTC EVO 4G LTE. More will follow later this year.
