WiMax, 4G, and the Enterprise

on April 13, 2010 by Mark Ivey

Anyone who attended CTIA last month probably heard that Sprint launched the first 4G mobile device – the Evo 4G by HTC – operational on WiMax. This is great news for the enterprise because once the phone begins to ship (sometime this summer) enterprises canleverage the full capabilities that 4G offers. You can read what Dan Hesse, Sprint’s CEO, has to say about WiMax in a CTIA interview with Phil Goldstein of Fierce.

Lynette Luna over at Fierce Wireless recently visited with Paget Alves, president of Sprint’s Business Marketing Group, to discuss what 4G means to the enterprise. Prior to CTIA, Alves also visited with Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes, where he noted that 4G is already in use within the healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, media, and retail markets. Enterprises needing more speed and capabilities from their wireless networks should consider 4G. It’s here and available now.
