Cyber Crime Study Reveals Security Measures with a Strong ROI

Recently released, the annual 2012 Cyber Crime Study by the Ponemon Institute sheds light on the cost of cyber crime to businesses around the world. Per the study, the average annualized cost of cyber crime to an organization is $8.9 million, with reported costs ranging from $1.46 million to a staggering $46 million. Firewalls Move Toward The Cloud

Network World recently reviewed some research by Forrester that outlined five  rising and five declining security technologies. There was one clear trend in every technology mentioned: everything is moving toward the cloud.

With security, it may not be obvious why security can be much more efficient in the cloud, but a lot of it has to do with what you can see from a bird’s eye view. Spam filters are a good example. Non-cloud filter paradigms examine each email in isolation, trying to determine if each is legitimate.
