The Reality of BYOD to Work

on June 18, 2013 by Heidi Gigler

Employees continue to connect their personal mobile devices to corporate networks, and with this follows new behavior. More and more, employees are walking away from their PCs and laptops and huddling around smaller personal devices to collaborate and connect at work. Because of this migration toward mobile devices, mobile threats are accelerating much faster than PC-related ones. Malicious Android apps are the primary concern, as these threats are increasing exponentially.

Per Infonetics Research, 85 percent of medium to large companies are aware of and accept BYOD trends. However, most companies have an unstructured plan at best to harness and empower the new BYOD culture. More...

What Does BYOD Really Mean?

on February 19, 2013 by Heidi Gigler

Yes, BYOD is the universally recognized acronym among techies, for Bring Your Own Device to work. But what does that mean? We can all agree that at its simplest, BYOD is the employee initiative of leveraging their own personal devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, for work. After that, it gets fuzzy. The Perilous BYOD Landscape

on June 07, 2012 by Editor

We didn't find out about a white paper on Bring Your Own Device Security until after we had written our post about the new Sprint Device Management addition to the Professional Mobility Services portfolio, but it has some interesting data that complements what we had to say.

The white paper, available at Webtorials (registration is no longer required), is based on a survey of more than 500 IT professionals – 60 percent of whom represent enterprises. We would have loved to have had the results of this survey broken out by size of organization, so we could focus on the enterprise responses, but with that high a percentage of enterprise respondents, the results probably provide a reasonably good picture of the enterprise BYOD security landscape. Killing Me Softly
